Jody Berryhill – Athletic Director
Coach Berryhill is originally from Bradenton, FL. He attended Southwest Baptist University and has a degree in Sports Management and Sports Medicine. Coach Berryhill has 34 years of experience in his field with 31 of those years here at Pine Tree. He also spent 3 years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Coach Berryhill and his wife Theresa of 37 years have 2 daughters who are both graduates of Pine Tree and 2 sons-in-law who wish they had attended Pine Tree. Most importantly, he has the “World’s Best Grandchildren, Ella Kate, Olivia Ryan, Daxton Blaine, Sawyer Reese, and a new Pirate coming in Spring 2022!” berryhill@ptisd.org |
Kerry Lane – Head Football / Asst Athletic Director
Coach Lane and his wife Jamie have two sons. Trey (11) attends Pine Tree Middle School and Tyler (7) attends Parkway Elementary. Trey and Tyler love being at the fieldhouse with their big brothers. They also love playing football, basketball, baseball, & golf. The Lane Family attends Grace Creek Church. Coach Lane is a graduate of Union Grove High School and Stephen F. Austin State University. Jason Bachman
Coach Bachman is the football offensive coordinator, running backs coach, and he also coaches track. Coach Bachman comes to Pine Tree from Calvary (2010-2016) and Evangel (2008-2009). Coach Bachman played receiver in high school and won 3 state championships in 2001, 2002 and 2004. As their receivers coach, he helped coach Evangel to state finalist in 2008 and to a state championship in 2009. He also coached Calvary to back to back state champions in 2013 and 2014 as their offensive coordinator. This will be Coach Bachman’s 5th year at Pine Tree. Alex Barron
Alex Barron is a 2006 New Diana Graduate. Coach Barron and his wife Dulce have a 10 year old daughter named Aliya. From Longview, TX, he attended Pine Tree from pre-K to 11th grade. While at New Diana, he was 1st Team All-State, All East Texas, and All-District Kicker in 2005. He still holds the class 2A Texas State record for the longest field goal at 57 yards. Coach Barron attended UT Arlington, majoring in Kinesiology. He played 5 seasons of professional arena football for the Texas Rattlers, Mesquite Wranglers, and Texas Revolution. Wayne Daniels
Coach Daniels is a graduate of Kilgore High School and Texas Christian University. He played defensive end for the Horned Frogs and was a member of the 2011 Rose Bowl Championship team. He was also a 2010 College All-American. Coach Daniels will be teaching 9th grade World Geography for Pine Tree. He coaches football, basketball, and track. Larry Denkins M.Ed., LAT – Head Athletic Trainer
Coach Denkins is from Longview, TX and is an alumnus of Pine Tree High School. He attended East Texas Baptist University and received his B.S. in Athletic Training. Coach Denkins received his Masters in Education from Concordia University in Austin. He has been an Athletic Trainer at Pine Tree since the Fall of 2008. Coach Denkins is from Port Aransas, TX and attended Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi where she received her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. This is her seventh year at Pine Tree as a proud Pine Tree Pirate! Her previous experience includes working with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi’s men’s basketball, men & women’s track and cross country, and various high school sports at Mary Carroll High School. Cody Ellis
Coach Ellis is our Strength & Conditioning Director and is in his 16th year coaching at the High School and Collegiate level. He holds a Master of Education in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Tyler. He is certified by the USAW as a Sports Performance Coach and the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Performance Enhancing Specialist. Coach Ellis is also Safe Sport Certified and has completed the USADA Coach’s Advantage Program. This allows Coach Ellis to become 1 of 75 Strength Coaches in the State of Texas to be named in the directory for the United States of America Weightlifting. Coach Ellis is also a member of the National High School Strength Coaches Association. He played baseball at Tyler Junior College and the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He returned to coach at Tyler Junior College after graduation from UAM and won a National Championship in 2007 as an assistant coach. Ellis has been a Strength & Conditioning Director at Henderson ISD, Brownsboro ISD, and also Frankston ISD. Hunter Gray

Zachariary Griffin

Alton Hawkins
Coach Hawkins is from Longview, TX. He attended Henderson State University where he earned his B.S. in Business. Coach Hawkins has been coaching for 28 years with 21 of those years at Pine Tree. He has also coached at Mt. Pleasant HS. Coach Hawkins was married to his late wife Deidre for 27 years, and their daughter Debra, and son Victor are both Pine Tree graduates. Jacob Holder
Coach Holder is our defensive coordinator and head track coach. He is originally from Rowlett, TX. After playing football at Ouachita Baptist University, Coach Holder began his teaching and coaching career at Rockwall High School in 2006. He joined Pine Tree 2 years ago after short stints at Mount Vernon as the defensive coordinator, Grapevine as a defensive backs coach, and North Forney as the defensive coordinator. Kolby Hull
Coach Hull is a 2005 graduate of Pine Tree. He attended Texas A&M University, graduating with a degree in History. Coach Hull has spent time in Beeville, Copperas Cove, Troup, and The Woodlands Christian over his 12 years of coaching experience. Taylor James
Coach James will be coaching safeties and track this year for Pine Tree. He and his wife Erica and two sons named Braxton and Karter. Coach James is a graduate of Winnfield Senior High School in Winnfield, Louisiana. He played college football at Louisiana College. He started his coaching career there, before going to Northwestern State University where he was a graduate assistant. After Northwestern State, Coach James took a job as the Defensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach at Vandebilt Catholic High School in Houma, Louisiana. Rashad Jones
Coach Jones will be coaching our Wide Receivers and serving as assistant track coach. He is originally from Little Elm, TX. Coach Jones graduated from the University of Central Arkansas where he majored in Kinesiology and Physical Education. He was also a track athlete. This will be his 6th year in education, where previously he coached wide receivers for West Memphis High School in Arkansas. Coach Jones has recently completed his Masters in Education Administration from Arkansas State University. Chase Jordan
Coach Jordan graduated from Hallsville High School. He then went on to play baseball at Navarro Junior College while being a part of the 2011 National Championship team. After that, he went to Lamar College and graduated with a general studies degree. He and his wife Lindsay moved to Pine Tree last year along with their 4 year old daughter, Baylor. C.J. Kyle
Coach Kyle is an East Texas native graduating from Gilmer in 2007. He went on to study kinesiology at Stephen F. Austin State University. He began his coaching career in DeKalb, Texas before spending a few years on staff at Pine Tree then Ore City. When Coach Kyle is not at the field house with his Pirates, he is home spending time with his wife, Tiara, and 3 year old son, Carter. ckyle@ptisd.org |
Garrett Methvin – JH Boys’ Coordinator
Coach Methvin is a 2009 Spring Hill High School Graduate. He played one year at the University of Arkansas as a pitcher on the baseball team before transferring to LeTourneau University in the fall of 2010. He played the remainder of his career at LeTourneau as a Pitcher and First Baseman when LeTourneau won its first ever ASC Championship in 2014. Garrett graduated from LeTourneau with a 3.9 GPA, majoring in Kinesiology, and currently working on his Masters in Education. He coached Baseball the first two years of his career at Central Heights High School in Nacogdoches, Texas. This is his 6th year at Pine Tree where he is the boys Junior High Athletics Coordinator. He is also starting his second year as the head baseball coach. He is married to Leighchele Methvin, his wife of 11 years and has 4 beautiful children, Elijah (Eli)-9, Lilly-8, and Adileigh (Adi)-6, and Asher-3. Eddie Milner
Coach Milner is a graduate of Andress High School in El Paso TX. He and his wife Tiafha have a beautiful daughter named Naomi who is 2 years old. Coach Milner is entering his first year of coaching Football and Track at Pine Tree. He will also be teaching P.E. at Birch Elementary. Coach Milner has previous coaching experience at Henderson HS (2014-21) as Offensive Coordinator Head Track Coach, Mt. Pleasant as Offensive Coordinator Head Track Coach, (2010-14) and Pampa coaching Receivers (2009-2010). At Andress HS Milner was an All-City and All- State WR/DB. Trenady Offermann
Coach Offermann served over 17 years in the Air Force. He was both an enlisted member (11 years) and a commissioned officer (6 years). During that time, he served tours supporting contingency operations overseas in Italy, Kuwait, Afghanistan, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, and Germany. Coach Offermann earned four degrees while on active duty: Master's of Science in Sports Management (3.97 GPA); Bachelor's of Science in Social Psychology (3.94 GPA); Associate's of Applied Science in Information Systems Technology; and an Associate's of Applied Science in Criminal Justice. Coach Offermann has three daughters, who were born in 2002, 2004, and 2008. His oldest is a Junior at BYU, and is currently on a church mission with plans to serve in Greece. His younger daughters currently live with their mother in Georgia, and plan on attending the veterinary school at Texas A&M following high school graduation. Coach Offermann earned his teaching certification through an alternative teaching certification course, and began his teaching and coaching career at Pine Tree High School, where he taught Special Education and coached football (running backs), and was the boys Head Track and Field Coach from 2016-2019. After leaving PTHS, he went to Victoria East High School, where he taught Special Education and coached football (Offensive Coordinator) and was the boys and girls Head Powerlifting Coach from 2019-2020. Jaidon Parrish
Coach Parrish was an alumnus of Gilmer High School in 2014. He attended Southern Arkansas University for football, and received accolades, such as All-conference and All American in his time there. Graduating with a Bachelors of University studies, and currently enrolled in Master programs for Kinesiology. Kip Picarella
Coach Picarella (aka. Coach P.) and his wife Alyssa have a son, Benjamin and new addition Kassidy Jane in March. He attended East Texas Baptist University and received his B.S. in Athletic Training, as well as recently graduating with his Masters Degree from the University of Hawaii. He is an experienced athletic trainer with sports teams ranging from Junior High to Professional athletes. Rodrick Portley
Coach Portley is graduate of Texas A&M-Commerce University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Sports Studies. Coach Portley previously coached at Overton High School. He is currently the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association Region 3 Div. 1 Director; starting his 7th year on the board of directors. He will be coaching junior high football and powerlifting while teaching in the Special Ed. Dept. for us at Pine Tree HS. Coach Portley and his wife Lori (who is an 8th grade GT Science teacher at Foster Middle School; have four children: Dominique (26) who currently is a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, Adrian (23) who is a 1st grade teacher at our own Birch Elementary. Jeremiah Robertson
Coach Robertson is a graduate of Huntington High School. He played football at East Texas Baptist University and graduated with a BSE degree in Kinesiology. He will be teaching 7th Grade Texas History and coaching football, basketball, and baseball. He is proudly engaged to Kaleigh Smith (December 4, 2021). Steven Rockwell
Coach Rockwell is a 2007 graduate of Ore City HS. He and his wife Kawaljulah have two handsome young boys. Elijah-4 year old and Gabriel-1 year old. Coach Rockwell is entering his fifth year of coaching football and track at Pine Tree. He also will be a Parent Liaison & At Risk Coordinator for the High School, Jr High, and Middle School. He has previous coaching experience at Hawkins HS defensive coordinator in (2016-17) and Ore City (2015-16). At Ore City HS, Coach Rockwell was all-district and all-east Texas RB/LB. He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 2012 with a B.B.S. in Sports Fitness and Leisure Studies. Wesley Schoon
Coach Schoon is a graduate of Harmony High School. He played football and baseball at East Texas Baptist University (2012-13) and is a graduate of Tarleton State University where he majored in Kinesiology Fitness Management. Trey Sterns
Coach Sterns was born in Dallas Texas, but is an alumni of Tatum High School, and a graduate of Grand Canyon University. He is currently engaged to his fiance D’Asa and they have two little boys Kadyn and Kamryn. Previously in football Coach Sterns coached at Tatum High school, where he served as the wide receivers and linebackers coach. While at Alto High School he served as the running backs coach. Coach Sterns will also be coaching baseball in the spring as he did at Tatum and Alto where he served as the outfield coach at both schools. tsterns@ptisd.org |
Jerrick Walker
Coach Walker was born and raised in Ore City, TX before eventually attending Linden-Kildare High School where he played football, basketball, baseball, tennis, and track and field. Coach Walker also was a state champion in triple jump during his time in Linden-Kildare. Walker received a college scholarship to Rice University and played WR for the Owls from 2011-2013. Walker later attended Sterling College in Sterling, KS where he was a National Qualifier in Track and field. Walker graduated from Sterling College in May of 2018 with a degree in Sports Management. Coach Walker is excited about the opportunity to coach football at Pine Tree JH and basketball at Pine Tree High this season and looks forward to a great year. jwalker@ptisd.org |
