Meet Coach Portley

Hello, I am Coach Portley. This is my 20th year teaching and my 8th year here at Pine Tree ISD. This year I am joining the CTE department at the high school teaching Counseling and Mental Health and Life Time Nutrition. As a coach my duties include freshmen football, Head Girl’s Powerlifting, Assistant Boy’s Powerlifting, and I currently serve as the secretary and board member for Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association. I am from Kilgore TX. And I attended Texas A&M Commerce where I graduated with my Bachelors of Science degree in education, and I recently received my Masters in Science in School Counseling from San Angelo State University in the spring of 2023. My wife Lori is on her 2nd year (7th year total) here in PTISD teaching Biology and coaching cheer at the high school. I have two daughters, Adrian (25) and Dominque (27), two stepchildren, Grayson (17) and Addyson (13), and a grandbaby, Raven (2).  I’m excited to see what this season holds….GO PIRATES.

Meet Coach Ellis

Coach Ellis is our Strength & Conditioning Director and is in his 18th year coaching at the High School and Collegiate level.  He holds a Master of Education Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Tyler.  He is certified as a Sports Performance Coach by USA Weightlifting, Performance Enhancing Specialist by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, High School Strength Coach Certified by the National High School Strength Coaches Association, Safe Sport Certified and has completed the USADA Coach’s Advantage Program.  Coach Ellis is a member of the National High School Strength Coaches Association where he has been nominated as NHSSCA Coach of the Year in 2020 and 2022.  Ellis is also a member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association.  He played baseball at Tyler Junior College and the University of Arkansas at Monticello.  He returned to coach at Tyler Junior College after graduation from UAM and won a National Championship in 2007 as an assistant coach.  Ellis has been a Strength & Conditioning Director at Henderson ISD, Brownsboro ISD, and also Frankston ISD.  Coach Ellis and his wife Allison have a 15 year old daughter named Cadence and a 6 year old son named Cannon.
